Nicole Richie trims guest list for weekend wedding - AZCentral.com Posted: 08 Dec 2010 02:26 PM PST Dec. 8, 2010 10:07 AM Nicole Richie has reduced the guest list for her upcoming wedding. The socialite - who is expected to marry Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden this weekend - has reportedly upset some of her pals, who thought they would be attending the nuptials at her father Lionel Richie's Californian home. A source said: "Nicole cut down the guest list because she didn't want a huge wedding. "She didn't invite a bunch of her celeb friends. This has apparently upset a lot of people." Though Nicole is not at her father's home overseeing preparations for her big day - which have included the construction of a dance floor over the outdoor pool - friends insist the ceremony and reception will reflect her tastes. The source told RadarOnline.com: "Nicole is going for a vintage and romantic vibe. The wedding will be true to Nicole's style. "Christmas has always been about family and faith for Nicole and Joel, so there is no better time of the year for them to wed." Nicole, 29, is believed to have asked her friend Christina Aguilera to sing at the wedding, while Joel - who has children Harlow, two, and 14-month-old Sparrow with the fashion designer - will have twin brother Benji at his side as Best Man. Safecracking burglars steal $500,000 in jewelry from mom-and-pop shop - New York Daily News Posted: 07 Dec 2010 01:49 AM PST ![]() Savulich for News 'They took all my fine jewelry - pieces with platinum, gold and sapphires,' Amit Sharma says.Safecracking burglars cleaned out a Tribeca jeweler in a $500,000 weekend heist that could ruin the holiday selling season forthe mom-and-pop shop, cops and the owners said. NYPD detectives and forensics experts combed Nirvana International on West Broadway on Monday for clues left behind by the skilled, acrobatic thieves. "They took all my fine jewelry - pieces with platinum, gold and sapphires," owner Amit Sharma, 38, said, adding that the bandits struck sometime after he closed up about 8 p.m. on Saturday night. Cops said the burglars scaled scaffolding attached to the building that houses the ground-floor shop, which Sharma and his wife opened in July. They smashed through a third-floor window to get into the building, then cut through the floor on the second level and dropped down into the store, cops said. "They had tools with them that helped them to take the whole door apart from the safe," Sharma said, estimating his losses at nearly $500,000. "The timing is terrible," added his wife, Ekta Sharma, stunned by their bad luck. "We put everything we have into the business and we were really banking on the holiday season for things to pick up." She believes that their plans to host a holiday open house at the store on Thursday may have tipped the burglars off to a possible score. Although none of the store's artworks were taken, Ekta Sharma said they will have to cancel the open house because there's no jewelry to offer. "We have nothing to show," she said. The store is across the street from the popular Tribeca Tavern, so the crestfallen couple hope a patron spotted the culprits. Cops ask anyone with information about the heist to call the NYPD's confidential Crime Stoppers tipline at (800) 577-TIPS.
