Plano-based J.C. Penney Co. is working with Condé Nast, a leader in the bridal market, to market Penney's new line of bridal jewelry under the Modern Bride brand name.

Condé Nast, a magazine publisher operating under the umbrella of Advance Publications, will grant Penney's exclusive licensing rights to the Modern Bride brand name, which became a household name through Conde Nast's Modern Bride publication.

The merchandise and campaign will target consumers ages 25 to 34.

Penney's is working on a new line of fine wedding jewelry to launch in February under the brand name.

The marketing concept allows Penney's to stake a claim in the multibillion-dollar bridal industry. Market research published by WE tv, a channel devoted to weddings, says wedding spending in 2009 reached upwards of $42.1 billion.

Alamo Heights man arrested in theft of jewelry at party - MySanAntonio

An Alamo Heights man was jailed Tuesday on charges he stole more than $25,000 in jewels from a home where he attended a party.

An arrest warrant issued Monday charges Ryan Mason McMahon, 18, with the theft of a wedding ring, gold charms and other pieces of jewelry — some of which he later pawned — the weekend of Sept. 17-19 from the residence of Leslie M. Vigini.

She told police her son hosted a party that night at her residence in the 100 block of Katherine Court in Alamo Heights without her permission. When she returned from out of town Sept. 20, she discovered that valuables worth an estimated $25,300 were missing.

Alamo Heights police said they traced some of the stolen items to two pawnshops. Employees picked McMahon out of a photo lineup, according to the arrest warrant.

Police said another man is suspected along with McMahon of pawning a watch and gold charms belonging to Vigini, but he has not been charged.
