Court Convicts Runaway Groom Of Fraud - My Fox Boston

(NewsCore) - A Taiwanese court convicted a runaway groom of fraud after he accepted jewelry from the woman he promised to marry, only to call off the wedding citing a "family taboo," a report said Tuesday.

The man, identified by his family name Lai, said he could not tie the knot because of a family taboo against marrying anyone surnamed Lin, Taiwan's TVBS news channel reported.

"His mother claimed that the woman will go crazy and the man will be beheaded if a Lin and a Lai were to get married," the woman told TVBS.

Lin, who started suffering from depression after the ordeal, filed a fraud suit against the groom-to-be for demanding gold jewelry as dowry and then jilting her, the report said.

A district court in central Taichung city Monday sentenced the man to five months in prison on a fraud conviction and ordered him to return the jewelry, it said.

Today my wife and I celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. I bought her some jewelry and am having a surprise delivery of flowers delivered to her job. I'll also be cooking for her, shrimp and penne pasta with alfredo sauce, she really likes her pasta. As for me, she got me Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption. I am truly a lucky man to have such a beautiful and wonderful wife. As year by year goes by, I can honestly say that our love has gotten stronger and stronger and I find myself loving her more and more. It's awesome being married to someone who has my back no matter what, we get through things together and that is truly awesome. God has truly blessed me with someone special.

            As for gaming I'll be playing Red Dead Redemption before Alan Wake. Anyway keep on gaming and have a great day.
